Bekirli Thermal Power Station 1. Unit

İcdas Electrical Energy Production and Investment Inc., 95% shares of which is owned by İçdaş Çelik Enerji Tersane ve Ulaşım Sanayi A.Ş., makes great contribution to the electricity production of Turkey with its highly efficient, 600 MW first unit of Supercritical Bekirli Power plant, which was commissioned in Biga town of Canakkale in 2011.  When the 600 MW second unit is commissioned in 2013, total installed capacity shall reach 1200 MW, and 4.2% of the energy need of the country shall be met.

Power plant is constructed at +15 m elevation within the boundaries of Bekirli-Kemer, which is 30 km away from the Biga town of Canakkale province. 
Power plant is equipped with highly efficient super critical boiler/turbine, and from environmental aspects, with DESOX (Flue Gas Desulphurization) and DENOX (Denitrification) units. 
Our power plant is named supercritical due to its operation above critical pressure and temperature (22.12 MPa, 374 °C). Operation in the region of supercritical steam values ensures more economical energy due to higher thermal efficiency, and cleaner energy production with the flue gas purification units.
